Intresting to see how ABC handels this. My guess is they will spin as hard as they can to dismiss the tapes as phoney.
Based on their morning radio news breaks, ABC is spinning this as follows: The tapes are authentic. They show that Saddam was not a threat to the US.
Of course, this is total BS.
After ABC is finished chopin it up, a conservative source will eventually put the story bach together. So compose yourself, it will be a classic MSM performance. :-)
But that wouldn't be news.
Unless they really wanted a story to run with that would bring back some of their audience and credibility. It could, if handled well, be a blockbuster for them.
Though I doubt getting a great story will trump their politics, so we will just continue to hate them and their bias and watch as they circle the drain and lose audience.
Ross is pretty good, and in the evening news report it did say it was not a smoking gun and may have just been bluster, but did indicate it was pretty strong evidence for the idea that perhaps some of the WMD was transferred.
Contrast this with the CNN report on it (by Axelrod....a guy I normally like.....which pooh-poohed the tapes completely and bizzarely tried to say Saddam was trying to boost the idea they had WMDs to make the Americans look dumb when we invaded. A rather dumb idea.
I mean the CBS report, not the CNN. I did not see the CNN one.
My guess is they will just ignore it and keep slamming Dick Cheney. And bring out the 'new' Abu Graib (sp?) photos.
