Secret audiotapes of Saddam Hussein discussing ways to attack America with weapons of mass destruction will be the subject of an ABC "Nightline" program Wednesday night, a former federal prosecutor told Cybercast News Service.
The tapes are being called the "smoking gun" of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) in Iraq. The New York Sun reported that the tapes have been authenticated and currently are being reviewed by the U.S. House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.
The panel's chairman, Rep. Peter Hoekstra (R-Mich.), declined to give the Sun details of the content or context of the recordings, saying only that they were provided to his committee by former federal prosecutor John Loftus.
Loftus has been tight-lipped about the tapes, telling the Sun only that he received them from a "former American military intelligence analyst."
On Tuesday night, Loftus told Cybercast News Service that ABC's "Nightline" would air an "extensive report" on the tapes Wednesday night. Loftus also described an ABC News "teaser," which reportedly contains audio of Saddam Hussein discussing ways to attack America with WMD. "Nightline will have a lot more," said Loftus.
This year's Intelligence Summit will bring together top terrorism experts including Dr. Rachel Ehrenfeld, author of "Funding Evil," 9/11 investigator Jean-Charles Brisard, author of "Zarqawi: the New Face of Al-Qaeda;" former CIA agent Michael Scheurer, author of "Imperial Hubris," and Richard Marcinko, former head of SEAL Team Six, and author of "Rogue Warrior."
The Intelligence Summit will be featured not only in the Wednesday Nightline report but also on ABC World News Tonight.

No, Fred...come see what I have...
Like how I changed peoples perception of police officers? ;o)
Thank you for pinging me Howlin.
G'night...I'm fading fa.....
G'night...me too!
Have to wonder why the Administration is holding this stuff, this and Able Danger, back or so it would appear?
But I find this snippet MUCH more interesting [from NY Post]:
"Sir, the biological is very easy to make," [Tariq Aziz] tells Saddam. "It's so simple that any biologist can make a bottle of germs and drop it into a water tower and kill 100,000."That (bold) interpretation is the way every reporter interprets that exchange: Saddam said he would never carry out such an attack.Saddam is heard saying Iraq would never carry out such a bio-attack.
"This is coming. This story is coming out, but not from Iraq," he says.
THAT's NOT HOW I READ IT AT ALL. When I read that, my reaction was that Saddam was saying "Iraq's fingerprints won't be on the attack". He's smart enough to have known that responding to a non-state-sponsored attack would be exponentially more difficult.
Why isn't it news that Saddam obviously had prior knowledge of the attacks? Why the benign interpretation, when I think mine is equally (if not more) plausible? I know, I know---it doesn't fit the template. These folks won't believe Saddam had anything to do with 9/11 until someone produces a photo of him with Bin Laden, both holding model airplanes striking a model of the twin towers. Actually, I guess even then the MSM would say they just look like kids playing with toys.
Nothing irks me more than the media's making fun of those of us who believe Saddam was behind 9/11. If nothing else, they could at least grant that this tape gives our belief more credibility.
I have it on tape and can't wait to watch it. ABC - whodathunkit?
"including whoever leaked the phony Al-Kakaa weapons dump story, one week before the '04 election."
Mohammad El Baradei of the IAEA leaked the story. This is precisely why I don't trust that dirtbag or the UN when it comes to stopping the Iranians from dveloping nukes.
If the MSM is truly Bush's enemy ,and I believe they are, then why deal with them at all. Bush should strip the NYT, LAT, WP, CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, PMSNBC, PBS, TIME, NEWSPEAK, US SNOOZE AND WORLD REPORT, NPR, the BBC and the AP of their WH credentials and force them to get their WH news from FOX, the WASHINGTON TIMES and the NEW YORK POST.
I was just scanning TV around 5:30PM and there it was on CNN Headline. I laughed my head off all negative news between them and MSNBC. Constant bashing of the President. I would rather watch Raymond.
It's 8:15 am EST and FNC has still not reported on this. What gives?
protecting US cities is only a bit more serious
Sounds tempting, but the GOP lives with the institutional memory Barry Goldwater in '64 Presidential campaign. Barry basically told the MSM of his day that he didn't need them, and the press (which was already strongly Democrat) obliged him. Obviously, that was before today's alternative media, but the memory lingers on.
If you do hear about Fox covering it, please ping me. John Loftus use to be on Fox on Sunday morning. I would TIVO the program every Sunday just to hear him. I quit doing that a while back because I wasn't finding him on anymore. I am not sure what happened. He may still be on and was just not doing it for a while. Or, he may have had a falling out with Fox and they quit having him on. This may be the reason that it was given to ABC instead of Fox. Does anyone know what happened with Loftus and Fox?
I gave up on the MSM after the 1992 campaign. Remember:
1) when George Stephanopoulos was somehow "mysteriously" able to call in a loaded question for President G.H.W. Bush during a live appearance on Larry King Live in San Antonio? The President protested on air, but Larry said Stephanopoulos had called in like everyone. Later we found out that someone in the control booth had given Stephanopoulos a telephone number to call so they could immediately connect him to Larry.
2) when Carole Simpson of ABC moderated one of the debates between the President and Slick (I don't remember if Perot was in this debate) and she sarcastically referred to President G.H.W. Bush as "the education President?" She later admitted in a post election interview that she probably shouldn't have said that.
3) when 60 Minutes invited Slick and Hitlery on to explain Slick's relationship with Jennifer Flowers et al? I was waiting for everyone on the set to start crying, sing KUMBAYA and then give each of the clintons a hug and say "don't worry about it, we're with you, not those #$&@*&$ Republicans."

Exactly - another reason why Nobel Peace Prizes are a blatant joke.
actually this tape was coerced outta Saddam because his buddy Ramsey wasn't there yet to make sure we weren't torturing Saddam into saying this by putting panties on his head.
Well said.
