Democratic party chair Howard Dean says he's not happy that Iraqi war veteran Paul Hackett is dropping out of the race for U-S Senate in Ohio.
Dean told a student audience in Miami that "some skulduggery in Washington" improperly led to Hackett's decision to end his bid. And he said Democrats will have a tough time winning if similar things happen to others.
Hackett was vying with Ohio congressman Sherrod Brown for the Democratic nomination. He said that Hackett was a "great candidate," and that a primary in Ohio wouldn't have hurt the party. Hackett says he's ending his eleven-month political career.
I'm with you on that one Rudder. Why can't we get real Conservative Senators in Ohio instead of De-whine and crybaby Voinovich?
Although I recently heard that Voinovich wiped his tears away and said he thinks John Bolton is doing good work at the U(seless)N after all.
Blackwell is da man! First, we gotta get Jim Petro to withdraw. Although I think Blackwell will easily defeat him in the primary.
Simply amazing.
I am taken aback at the poor (reportedly) public perception of the Republican Party, deservedly, or not.
With the open idiocy that is the Democrat Party the Republicans should be having "no contest" races all over the country.
Voinovich should be forced to drink soup made from Bolton's socks and underwear.
Reid is certifiable. You choose the category.
He's the gift who never stops giving...lol.
I stand corrected. Schmidt beat Hackett 52%-48%. A 4 point loss the Dem leaders called almost a victory!
A further look shows that Sen Chucky Schumer has been sending letters out to the party faithful encouraging them NOT to fund Hackett's bid for the Ohio senate seat!
Extraordinary!

Dean says U.S. needs to reach out to Latin America
"We need to reach out. There are extraordinary opportunities and extraordinary things going on in Latin America," Dean said.
(snip)
"This is an extraordinary city. It is the jumping off point for Latin America," he said of Miami.
Nice synopsis....BTWE, Dean, Schumer, and their two food tasters are gonna have a working lunch tomorrow to discuss strategy..
Watch for Durbin to challenge Reid for the leadership post later this year. Dean has been signalling that Reid may not be around much longer.
If i was Hackett i would run as an independent. Granted i cannot stand the guy but it seems like he got a raw deal here so in spite he should run an independent candidacy
Ahh, but he would make a good farmer! He is so good at spreading BS.....
Last night on FOX News I saw a statement that Hackett made which said something to the effect that the party had undermined his donor base on the east and west coasts, leaving him no money to run. I thought he was running to represent Ohio? Where was his "donor base" in Ohio?
Today's Democrats get an extrodinary amount of cash from the left wing moonbats.... Starting with multi-billionaire George Soros, then throw in the far left from Hollywierd, and the Clintonian dot-commers who didn't lose their shirts in 2000 (Google, Yahoo, etc) and you'll see that fundraising is really what it's all about. Hackett raised the Dems a great deal of cash in 2005 and only a small amount went to his campaign. The majority went to the Dem leadership coffers. And they call the Republicans the party of corruption?
Now that he's no longer as useful for fundraising, he's dropped like the pos he is. Soon to be coming to starry-eyed Iraq war Democrat candidates near you!
Thank you for the insight...lacking more and more here on FR.
How in the world did Dean become the face and voice of the DNC??? Not complaining, just have not figured out the mechanics of how this happened.
It looks like Dean has finally said something that makes real sense.
Hacket should have known better. He was not ignorant to the plan.
BTW, keep up the good work Democrats!
