Wasn't Alice where the 200 votes mysteriously materialized that allowed Lyndon Baines Johnson (a.k.a. "Landslide Lyndon") to win the 1948 Democratic primary for senator by 87 votes?

Yes, I was born in Alice. It is Jim Wells County, and it was where LBJ's cronies came up with over 250 votes of dead people who voted in aphabethical order. Also, there was a local crook named George B Parr that supported LBJ in this part of Texas that was called "The Duke of Duval." He was very corrupt and finally sent to prison on tax fraud. There was a saying in South Texas that be careful if you ran against Lyndon, that you might be killed. In Alice, a lawyer was killed in his garage one night, who opposed Lyndon.
