"Quailgate" is just ridiculous but a great excuse for a laugh.
Here in Michigan, the liberals and tree-huggers are wailing in angst over mourning doves. They are game birds that hunters love because they're hard to shoot. What does our ninny in the governor's mansion do? Give a VERY limited license in a handful of counties, which does nothing to help us in terms of hunting competition with other states.
I live next to Waterloo State Rec, and hunting is a serious business here.

We have a pair of mourning doves that live in one of our evergreen trees, near to our deck. We hear their cooing quite a lot.
