When a candidate has lost the presidency by a mere 520 votes, it could well have an emotional and psychological effect on his personality.

I no longer agree with this contention. Gore should have been magnanimous, like Nixon was to Kennedy, and we would not have the rancor we have experienced over the past 5 years. Gore had a chance to show class and didn't have the grace to do it. It's time to stop making excuses for him.

You nailed it. I can never forget that he was on his way to make his concession speech, in fact had already conceded to Gov. Bush, when his campaign manager called and the no-class POS Gore then called Gov. Bush and and withdrew his concession... I was stunned when I heard that later in day. You are so right, he had the chance to be graceful in the interests of his country, like President Nixon, but he couldn't. What a classic representative of the modern Dem party. You are so right, they have run out of excuses. They are either ignorant or evil and have no class.

Excellent point. Nixon lost a close race, but he gracefully dusted himself off after his narrow loss and tried again by running for Governor in California then for President again. Gore lost a close race and tried to sue his way to the Presidency, put on a substantial amount of weight soon thereafter and gives angry, bitter speeches to trash the man he couldn't defeat. What a contrast.
