The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department today issued a report on Vice President Dick Cheney's accidental shooting Saturday of a fellow quail hunter on a sprawling Texas ranch. The hunting accident report, a copy of which you can find below, briefly recounts how Cheney plugged Harry Whittington, a 78-year-old Austin lawyer, with birdshot in the face, neck, and chest. According to the state report, Cheney was wearing a "blaze orange" cap and "coat/vest" and brown trousers and was toting an Italian-made Perazzi .28-caliber shotgun. In addition to the document's release, wildlife officials reported today that while Cheney had purchased a valid non-resident hunting license, he did not obtain a required "upland game bird stamp." As a result, a warning citation--which carries no fine or penalty--will be issued to Cheney, which state officials described as "routine." And as for whether Cheney would have needed to previously take a hunters education course, state wildlife officials noted that such classes are only required of hunters born on or after September 2, 1971. Cheney was born January 30, 1941. While yet to release its report on the shooting, the Kenedy County Sheriff's Office this afternoon issued a press release noting that an "investigation reveals that there was no alcohol, or misconduct involved in the incident." In an interview with deputies, Whittington "collaborated Vice President Cheney's statement," according to the release, which concluded, "This was no more than a hunting accident." (3 pages)

That was priceless.
I thought David Gregory was going to have a hemorrhage during that questioning.
New this year; and Whittington, a Texas native, didn't have one either.
Abrams and Matthews showed their ignorance concerning quail hunting today. These bastards were despicable. That Cheney didn't apparently have a valid upland bird license....well, Cheney screwed up.
But for heavens sake,.....It was an accident. Thank God the man is fine. And thank God, George W. did not pull that trigger.
They don't even know what they're talking about when they say that stuff.
Matthews said Cheney didn't talk to Bush until today; how the heck could he know that?
Buchanan said that the "ranch" turned away the sheriff, when the sheriff said the Secret Service called them withint 10 minutes of the incident.
They just lie with wild abandon.

And one asked "Should Vice President Cheney resign."
And one compared the "coverup" to Katrina.
LOL! Love the board thing!
There were no cameras rolling in the Monday morning 'gaggle' today, the morning after news belatedly broke about Vice President Dick Cheney accidentally shooting a hunting companion on Saturday. The broadcast sessions of press encounters with White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan are saved for formal afternoon briefings, with the morning gaggles serving as more informal warm-ups. And David Gregory, the chief White House correspondent for NBC News, was warmed up.
Why was the White House relying on a Texas rancher to get the word of Cheney's hunting accident out over the weekend, asked Gregory, accusing McClellan of 'ducking and weaving.'
'David, hold on⦠the cameras aren't on right now,' McClellan replied. 'You can do this later.'
'Don't accuse me of trying to pose to the cameras,' the newsman said, his voice rising somewhat. 'Don't be a jerk to me personally when I'm asking you a serious question.'
'You don't have to yell,' McClellan said.
'I will yell,'' said Gregory, pointing a finger at McCellan at his dais. 'If you want to use that podium to try to take shots at me personally, which I don't appreciate, then I will raise my voice, because that's wrong.'
'Calm down, Dave, calm down,' said McClellan, remaining calm throughout the exchange.
'I'll calm down when I feel like calming down,' Gregory said. 'You answer the question.'
'I have answered the question,' said McClellan, who had maintained that the vice president's office was in charge of getting the information out and worked with the ranch owner to do that. 'I'm sorry you're getting all riled up about.'
'I am riled up,' Gregory said, 'because you're not answering the question.'"
Will there be a senate commission of non-hunters to personally grill Cheney to determine the "real" story?
I'd see if I couldn't feed that blockhead some information he would choke on.
I have a pimple ...notify the press
The libs in the media are snapping and losing what was left of their minds
Yes, their true colors are there for the world to see, that press briefing should be played over and over.
Hitlery will propose such a commission, but that dog won't hunt.
Note when liberal VP Burr shoots and actually KILLS conservative great Alexander Hamilton, no liberal calls for investigtions or resignation - curious, don't you think?
