demonRAT's would love a 'no name' candidate to compete with. A no namer - won't work. Pence; a nice guy, great ideas, but he needs to deliver 'something' besides rhetoric.

Pence is the ONLY one delivering anything but rhetoric.Pence is the only candidate with real results against big Government.
To: harpu
If you think Hillary wants to face Pence;YOUNG,Articulate, great Young family,Christian with no skeltons, telegenic, dedicated base, then you are crazy.
To: theworkersarefew
Pence is only beginning his charge to the front...he's kind of like batting against Nolan Ryan [in his prime] with an aluminum fungo bat - no extra base hits in the boy's immediate future.

Pence is only a "No name" until people know his name- get it? After the convention,Pence's ID would be as high as Guiliani or McCain.Raising name ID is what the primaries are for.Hillary's negatives will be at 45% while Pence's will be less than 20.Name ID is a non starter and a non issue.

Thanks for the ping. This guy needs more media exposure, at least among Republicans. I can't understand the circular reasoning of not talking about someone because no one has been talking about them.
He is pro-life, pro gun, and has a track record for trimming the pork. That is worthy of note.

Then you aren't paying attention.Pence gas done more to fight Socialism in 2005 alone than all the other candidate combined. In case you didn'tknow, there are no NOlan Ryan's out there.Pence is the only one in the majors while all the other "pitchers" are playing double A ball.

"But he openly dodged the third question about Sen. Evan Bayhs (R.-Ind.) potential presidential candidacy in 2008..."
Uh, isn't that supposed to be a "D" behind Bayh's name?

and as quick as you replied on this thread it tells me that you didn't even read the article. The rest of your statements tell me you do not know alot about Pence. Please do a little research and a think you might be enlightened.

I notice you '05' FReepers are pretty excited for the 'new'. Great...but without any kind of portfolio, Pence is like a 'new broom'...great in the beginning but how long do they last?

The only problem is: There has NEVER been a member of the House of Representatives elected President of The U.S. It's hard enough for a Senator to be elected.

Why don't you two 05er's continue your debate and support of Pence with one another and I'll just watch & enjoy your rhetoric.

You are not listening.Pence has already done more, accomplished more than all the other moderate-conservatives combined. His budget battles and the MEDICARE battle are legendary. When it comes to things conservatives care about-no Senator,No Governor is even in the same league.

GARFIELD and LINCOLN once again people playing loose with the facts.

That would be great.Thank You!

I do not believe in being a slave to History.According to "History" we never would have had Reagan. If we let History be the standard then Socialism and a huge Government is inevitable.

The father of our party Lincoln had only served as a Congressman before he was elected President. We need to know our history. No Senator has ever won the nomination for the GOP. The record is actually 2-0 Congressman over Senators.
It is not about what position someone serves as, Alan Keyes was never elected to anything, either was Forbes, Bauer, Robertson, etc. Yet they were Presidential candidates that many of our base supported. The most conservative candidate wins every time. And Pence is the most conservative.
