Didn't some ex-CIA guy write a book recently about how if he had been left in Afghanistan to complete the CIA led attack on the Taliban..and hunt for Osama Bin Ladin... we would have had him by now...because HE (the author) knew he was still in Tora Bora... BUT, Bush Admin. screwed up by sending him and his CIA group to Iraq???

Not exactly - Gary (Berntsen) makes the suggestion that if we would have sent in more U.S. troops (Rangers) we could have sealed off UBL from escaping from Tora Bora.

Gary is simply looking to sell books (and probably does wishfully think that UBL was there) - The reality is UBL most likely left the Tora Bora Mtn range about 7-10 prior to the operation Gary Bernsten was part of.

Bernsten has the right attitude / aggressive ideas regarding the WOT.....but he hasn't been so wise of late.

I remember thinking at the time of an interview that he did...that had a lot more of the Rangers been sent into Tora Bora...I felt that they would be walking into a trap..

The Taliban know that area, we don't....and like you, I didn't think that OBL stayed in that area...not when there is an area in Pakistan, where America isn't allowed enter, that would hide him well..

AND, regardless of what Hillary Clinton said the other day...it doesn't matter how TALL he is, when he is in Pakistan villages being hidden in buildings, NOT walking around in the desert of Afghanistan...sheesh

Of course, all of the above becomes moot, if he is dead....and I am not convinced he isn't dead..

Just like I am not convinced there were NO WMDS in Iraq...I believe they were there..and moved.
