Upstater here- we'll no doubt be sending a fleet of State plows, loaders and truck-mounted snowblowers down there to help dig out (just like always.)
That's always the problem when it snows in urban areas- where do you put it?
Don't they actually have heated trailers down there that melt the snow and let it run into the sewers?
I wonder, will the DEC stop them from dumping the salt-laden slush in the salt water of the harbor?

yes, NYC has 20 of those snow melters. they no longer dump in the rivers.

In Manhattan's business districts, yes, they do. The DEC hasn't stopped the city from doing this in the recent past. They did stop direct dumping into the rivers. The sewer water might get treated before discharge.
