This is my biggest fear where McCain is concerned. Perot gave us 8 years of the Clintons. Had it not been for him; there would not be the Hillary factor today.
But, then again, thanks be to God and Ralph Nader we don't have Al Gore in the White House today. Nader's 98,000 votes in Florida put G.W. in the Oval Office.
Sorry but Perot 'did' nothing of the sort. The reason Perot gained votes is because neither of the parties represented that portion of the population. Basically Bush didn't run the campaign that was required to garner that part of the vote. Shoud the citizens of the respective states be forced to vote for someone even if they don't believe in them simply to prevent the 'other' party from getting into office?
Of course the way it's going if a third party candidate showed up in 2008 with as much as Perot did, the same thing may happen. And it won't be that person's fault but the fault of the existing parties from failing to represent the citizenry
