Now that Israel is under threat of extermination by Iran and Hamas, with Nazi-style libels against the Jews pouring out of the Arab and Muslim world and with Jews everywhere under siege from physical and intellectual attack, what is the response of the most progressive religious and intellectual minds in Britain and America to this phenomenon of global fascism and threat of a second Holocaust directed against the Jewish state? Why, to cut Israels economic throat. Last years aborted Israel boycott by Britains Association of University Teachers was, as predicted here at the time, merely a practice run for what has become the progressive recreational sport du jour singling out the one country on the planet that is targeted for extermination, first by demonising it with a campaign of lies and then severing its intellectual and economic lifelines to the so-called civilised world.
Israel boycotts now seem to be as popular as a CND badge on a 1950s beatnik. The Church of England, which has done so much to foster hatred of Israel, has now successfully resurrected its narrowly averted boycott support attempt of last year (you cant keep a good prejudice down) and at the General Synod overwhelmingly backed the call by the Episcopal Church in Jerusalem to divest from companies profiting from the illegal occupation ... until they change their policies.

"Serbs were one the few European nations who resisted Hitler against the overwhelming odds as Poles and Greeks did"
They might have done, but it didn't prevent their vicious anti-Semitism, anti-Semitism which in many ways was and is far deeper than anything the Nazis could come up with.
Over many centuries Poland was the main heaven for the persecuted Jews. Until Polish partitions, Jews enjoyed unprecedented religious freedom and autonomy (their own self-governing towns, own courts, even Jewish Parliament - thing unheard anywhere else).
If Poles managed to defeat Hitler in 1939, the Holocaust would not happen. You can blame Poles for their weakness if you wish, but even while they were much smaller and less amed than Nazi Germany, they were willing to pay paid horrible price in lives and treasure to put the fight.
Shame on you.
You have no problem with blaming Poles. You see thing from one side only like mythical Cyclops who had only one eye.
Some Jews supported the war.
Some Jews did not support the war.
Most American Jews, like most Americans, didn't follow the issues to even understand what was going on.
How do Jews and their views of the Serbian War become an issue here to you? What was the opinion of Americans of Swedish decent?
You started with an absurd criticism of Israel for not being anti American and now compound by criticising Jewish Americans for not critising their Government in a time of war.
You have the same right to live there as I have to live on the Great Plains - no more, no less.
And that right has the same source in both cases - a willingness to evict, on pain of death, those who would contest the right, and then to keep them out.
You are so right Rockiette. The Bible is definitely being fulfilled.. But, I believe according to the Bible, that Israel will not be totally destroyed. They will have their back up against the wall, it will look like it's gonna be destroyed. At that time the Army of God will come down and crush the enemy. I do believe though that the rapture is to occur no less than 7 years before the destruction. A scarry scenario is that America is not mentioned in the bible. Perhaps we will be destroyed before Armageddon occurs. :-(
sorry, I seemed to have posted that twice. Still learning :0)
Because when the war on Yugoslavia was developing I was hoping that Jews will defend Serbs (and Gypsies) against Muslim Albanians and nationalist Croats because of memory of WWII. I was very disappointed.
Another element was that the leading architects of this war and suppression of Serbs were Mr. Holbrook and Ms. Albright.
Sadly the position of the later was in contrast with her father:
"Mr. Korbel, a Czech diplomat, was grateful to the Serbs for their friendship and protection, especially at a time when the Serbs, as well as the Jews, were being hunted down by the Nazis and their collaborators (including the Kosovo Albanians). Which is why Madeleine's father, Mr. Korbel, is probably turning in his grave now seeing what his daughter is trying to do to the Serbs"
(Carving Up Serbia)
So you think that opposing Clinton war on Serbia would be anti-American?
So now the descendants of that same nazi muslim brotherhood from WWII, START up all over again with their crys of KILL the Jews. This time though, the Jews of Israel are at the greatest risk.
Looks as if the Allies left some unfinished business at the end of WWII.... THE COMPLETE DESTRUCTION OF THE MUSLIM NAZIS!!
"After many centuries of the most virulent anti-Semitism that is something which should be inscribed on the heart of every living Pole."
A Christian, Bill Clinton, ordered the war.
And what do Jews have to do with Albright, she is not a Jew.
And if she was a Jew, what would Jews then have to do with the decisions she made as SOS? Or the US representitive to the UN? I guess if he is a Jew, he then must make policy for the Administration (I wish a non-Jew, Bolton, had such power)
You're probably frequently disappointed with Jews. It's something we will just have to live with.
Your posts can be a lesson to anyone who wants to understand anti Semitic prejudices.

Does it mean that you give green light to criticize Mrs. Albright without risk of being accused of antisemitism?
Yeah. I think Israel is an American ally and would never criticize an American war- in public for certain.
Such criticism of something to which Israel is not a party would never be welcomed in Washington and by most Americans no matter the merit of the argument.
Even if such war were very wrong? So why do you expect others to act on moral principle?
At will.
I can join you.
And you can even criticize any Jew for what they do as individuals.
But that's not what you do. You tie individual Jews, and even non-Jews- to some overreaching Jewish collective.
Very good. So you say that is wrong to critize Poles or others as a group/collective?
You and I may think the war was wrong.
Yet it certainly didn't rise to the level that Israel should publicly criticize the United States.
I wish the US would give Israel the same courtesy.
I can just imagine the field day of Israel lovers such as yourself if Israel ever publicly criticized an American military action.
