An 11-year-old Lindenhurst boy who wanted to put an end to his mother's drug use took cocaine from his house Friday and brought it to school to show authorities, Suffolk police said.
The boy woke up Friday morning and wanted his mother, Toni LaBarbera, 43, to take him to school at Deauville Gardens Elementary School in Copiague, police said.
When he was unable to wake her, he noticed numerous plastic bags of white powder nearby and took one, police said. LaBarbera's boyfriend, Scott Pinto, 43, of Copiague, took the boy to school, where, upset over his mother's drug use, he showed school authorities the plastic bag.
First Squad detectives went to LaBarbera's house, where they recovered additional cocaine, police said.
LaBarbera and Pinto were arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, both misdemeanors.

MRMEAN will be here soon to wish death or molestation to the boy. Standby...
I wonder what he would have thought if one of the 9/11 hijackers had "ratted out" his buddies.
Exactly. Right vs Wrong apparently isn't nearly the issue that "being a rat" is...
Sad really.
ah the good folks in Linguini-hurst. I lived there for a year...and can see that happening to some....while others are regular hard working folk who try to do the right thing.
At least they didn't charge the 11-year-old with possession of illegal drugs...at least not yet.
I must clarify that those involved are in the COPAIGUE school district even though the address is in Lindenhurst.
Huge difference between the two.
I feel sorry for the kid but truth be known he probably saved his mother's life by narcing her out.
If you can't kick after being turned in by your 11 year old son, you never will.
I "seriesly" doubt they will.
Am I the only one troubled seeing that there are at least seven degrees of possession of a controlled substance?
Good for the kid, I hope the mom quits it but she won't.
Well at least someone in the family is responsible.
Good. There's help available for the asking.
Thre kids got guts. I pray things turn out well for him.
I love this child. This is one great kid.
Of course Losertarians everywhere will be calling this a violation of his mothers' privacy.
