I, for one, have been calling ragheads "ragheads" since they took over the Embassy in Tehran. I have been Conservative even longer. There are worse epithets out there, and I thought I was being nice. The cartoons were a lot nastier then, at least nastier than anything the Danish papers published, even if they traveled by fax machine.
This illustrates one more reason Conservatives need the likes of Ann Coulter.
Conservatives are so cowed by political correctness, now in its second generation, that they can't even phrase the argument in unabashed terms without being jumped on by other Conservatives.
If we allow our opponents to decide what words we can use, then they frame the debate and, from there, even the thoughts which can be expressed.
The Left's extremists are burning labs and condos, setting animals free from medical research facilities, sending letter bombs, chaining themselves to trees, fences, and other fixed objects, and our "extremist" is getting flack over "raghead"?
For Pete's sake. It is no wonder that the GOP has been steadily drifting to the left.
So much so that a potential GOP POTUS candidate for 2008 has been praised by some on this site with the following "conservative" credentials: pro abortion, pro illegal immigration, pro gay marriage, and pro gun control. (Rudy Guiliani)
Painting a Pepsi can red does not make it Coca Cola, even though some will not be able to tell the difference.
Back to Ann. For those of us who remember the Kennedy years all too well, (Jack, not Teddy), Ann is like a breath of fresh air. Whether right, wrong, or indifferent, she calls them as she sees them, and if that is too much for your tastes, so be it.

Right. If you (not you personally, but generically) have to slander or lie to prove a point, what good does that do? Only "principled conservatives" who think with the other head get turned on by that sort of crap.

Since you're not using your wallet, can I have it?
Which party would you support? Understand that I'm not issuing the all too common "who else you gonna vote for" dichotomy.

"Those third party goofballs that you hobknob around with aren't even polling above 5% in most elections."Simply amazing that you know me so well that you can state that I "hobknob around" with "third party goofballs" because, actually, that is not the case. In any event, one principled "third party goofball" is worth a hundred of you party-above-principle GOP Big Tent RINOs.
"Where'd you come up with that 30%+ figure besides your head?"
That 30% is the lowball side of the numbers usually cited as constituting the conservative base. These numbers are all over the place, but seem to hover anywhere between a low of 30% to a high of 40%. If you possess more credible and authoritative numbers, lets have them. Remember, I said "credible and authoritative, which excludes RNC GOP Big Tent "wish" numbers below 30%.

It was one of the worst moments that I've had the displeasure of experiencing on FR, although they didn't bring out the charge of anorexia. Or maybe they did.

"You goofballs are a riot!"
And you party-above-principle GOP Big Tent RINOs are pathetic little lemmings who lack the courage of your convictions because you have no convictions, merely a drone-like party loyalty.
Here, have some more Kool Aid...

In any event, one principled "third party goofball" is worth a hundred of you party-above-principle GOP Big Tent RINOs.I'll take a 100 "party-above-principle GOP Big Tent RINOs" whose hearts and minds are in the right place, over 1 third party bozo who thinks the world should revolve around them.
That 30% is the lowball side of the numbers usually cited as constituting the conservative base. These numbers are all over the place, but seem to hover anywhere between a low of 30% to a high of 40%.
Right, I'm fully aware of that. That figure fluctuates because of the low number of "party-above-principle GOP Big Tent RINOs" that you speak of. Many of them haven't made up their minds until election night. They're commonly referred to as "undecideds".

Just for the record, and for the sake of accuracy, there were a great number of us who lost our respect for Ann....not because she opposed Miers, but because she trashed Miers. A BIG difference.
As I said upthread, there were other solid conservatives who opposed Miers, who did so with dignity and class. Ann did not.
But she sure got a lot of attention, didn't she? Not that that was her goal or anything.........

Your words, not mine.Your post had "DOOM!" written all over it. If you had any principles, you'd accept responsibility for your own posts instead of blaming others for your poor choice of words.

"For everyone one of "you" that leaves, 5 more join the the party."Really? That's not what I'm hearing. Perhaps you are confusing the illegal aliens with real voters. Suggest you check with your RINO High Priest, Ken Mehlman.
"No, good luck to you and whoever your candidate will be."
Thanks. It won't be another RINO. No more pulling that lever for "least worse."

Do you poor people realize how stupid and outdated that Kool-aid stuff is? LOL!
It doesn't hurt anybody, because it's so lame.
Why don't you use your brains and come up with something new? Cause right now, you just look dumb.....
(Not that you ARE dumb, or anything.............)

There's room for truly principled disagreement within conservative thought. Note that I said "thought." Propaganda techniques are not becoming of conservatives that actually have a reasoned complaint. Sadly, labels can be changed, coopted, corrupted, and distorted by just about anyone.

"Which party would you support?"Don't know yet. I've only been off the Kool Aid for a couple of years now. Finally gotten my right arm under control--no longer automatically heads for the "least worse" lever in the voting booth.
When and if the array of serious candidates produces a genuine verified conservative, that's who will get my vote. Should there be no principled conservative candidate, then I will simply "no vote" that offfice.

Just as Ann Coulter tends to get attention in public, so the anti-Coulter brigade stole the stage from posters like you. Not that it's anything new: the ones with the loudest voices and harshest words clash with loud voices and harsh words on the other side. Sensationalism sells.
Stellar, do we have any of those choice quotes available?
