Members of San Diego, Calif.-based Border Angels have launched a three-week, cross-country caravan in support of immigrant rights that made a pit stop in San Antonio on Friday afternoon and is moving toward Victoria.
The group staged a rally at Milam Park downtown to protest increasing number of migrants who die during illegal border crossings. Activists called for immigration policy reform, favoring laws that would make it easier for migrants to obtain legal work and residency in the United States.
The Border Angels caravan now moves to Victoria, site of the nation's deadliest known border crossing, when 19 migrants suffocated to death in the back of a sweltering truck trailer in May 2003.
The next stop is Houston while the final destination is Washington on Feb. 18.
Here's an idea, how about stopping their deaths by coming here legally?
3 weeks? Don't these people have jobs? Oh, right.
Border Angels Ping!
Please FReepmail me if you want on or off this South Texas/Mexico ping list.
Do they have plans on touring Mexico? Maybe if they had a lick of sense, they would realize their message would get to the people that need to hear it.
I didnt realize that Victoria was on the border.....I guess Mexico just annexed south Texas.
Legal immigrants have rights.
Illegal immigrants have the right to be deported a.s.a.p.
And, if I know Texans, Texas hits back.
"protest increasing number of migrants who die during illegal border crossings. "
Ya gotta luv it.
The border crossing are 'illegal' but the 'migrants' are not!
Unreal!
I don't know. Seems like someone's always messin' with Texas anymore.
Why would a "legal migrant" have to make a "illegal crossing" to come into the United States?
Although it's hard to tell, these lillylivered dogooders will not get anywhere close to the border.
They think South Texas is in northern Mexico!
