The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America pays for abortions (whatever the reason) through its health plan. The so-called conservative and supposedly pro-life Lutheran groups (Wisconsin Synod and Missouri Synod) work with the ELCA on many different projects while clucking their Phasisaical tongues at how liberal ELCA is.

ELCA uses its World Hunger Appeal money to lobby across America for abortion on demand.

"The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America pays for abortions (whatever the reason) through its health plan."

My wife and I left the ELCA last year for the LCMS over the 'sexuality' issue. What you say above is news to us, and would be of interest to others still with the ELCA who are likely ignorant of 'in-house' health coverage.

How do you come by this information?

One of the many reasons I left the ELCA for the Roman Catholic Church.

I would like to know if the Evangelical Covenant is doing something similar? They've got an uprising bringing in all kinds of mysticism and arguing about being "welcoming but not affirming" regarding homosexuality touting that as 'freedom in Christ' -- and I know they make exceptions for rape and incest at this point. I know they are softening the language against many sinful behaviors and are drifting severely from the Word rightly handled. Anyone know anything about the E Covenant's insurance practices regarding abortion?
