So if I'm understanding the micro-tear statement correctly, then a woman should not rely on condoms as a contraceptive because the micro-tearing increases the risk of AIDS transmission. Interesting. Have there been any studies on micro-tears associated with diaphragms and those new vaginal estrogen-rings? Just in mechanical terms, it would seem those devices would cause micro-tears, too. Should a sexually active woman just use hormonal birth control then and tell her partner not to use a condom?
