I've noticed that the topic of this thread has shifted (perhaps predictably) to the question of whether being gay is something you can be persuaded into, or not.

I find it interesting that there has been little comment about the central import of the posted article, and that is what about the legal legitimacy of this lawsuit in which the plaintiff is claiming that his family was damaged by a single, school affiliated event of exposure to pro-homosexual literature and discussion, voluntarily attended to by the minor teenager, and directly resulting in the boy becoming personally accepting of the idea of himself as being gay.

I think such a lawsuit is ridiculous and illogical, but it doesn't mean I believe the school should be sanctioning such an event. I don't think the school should be allowing this, and if anyone wants to claim that I'm "promoting the homosexual agenda" simply by saying that this lawsuit is stupid, then that person is a fool.

It actually wasn't the school, it was a summer enrichment program attended by the student.

If you'll go to the link above, on the Governor's School of North Carolina, then look at the curriculum and at the "enrichment" seminars offered, you'll see that they aren't all "conservative" but many are "thought-provoking".

I don't see "The New Gay Teenager" posted as one of the enrichment seminars currently, but I wouldn't be surprised if they changed from year to year.

I also wouldn't be surprised if it was listed somewhere on the materials this family received before the student attended the Governor's School, but the parents didn't notice it.
