Somebody said that each oil company makes about 20 cents profit on each gallon of gas.

Our state/federal tax on a gallon of gas is around 45 cents. More than twice the profit of the oil companies.

So, tell us again, just who is gouging the American people?

With smokes, the companies get 23 cents but the government (depending on state) gets over $3.00.

In 1976, gas cost $1.82/gal (in 2000 dollars). The federal government spent $1,700 per person, again in 2000$.

In 2005, gas cost $1.95 (2000$). The federal government spent $8,500 or so per person.

So, tell us again, just who is gouging the American people?
