If you look at the relative percentages of the 'perversion' market in the sex trade, you will find that the majority of the gay market is actually tilted toward things which are either illegal or just freakishly wierd (like getting spanked with a wallet). The vast majority of hetero porn (while not healthy at all) is still geared towards having sex with attractive women in fairly normal ways.

If you question whether this is true or not, try rationalizing the statistics between pedophilia between male/male incidents and male/female incidents. Considering that 99% of the population is straight, pedophiles are closer to a 50/50 split which means that the percentage of those who are gay are somewhere on the order of 10 to 20 times more likely to be desirous of having sex with underaged partners. Just as a glaring example, where are all of the female victims of the Catholic priest sexual abuse cases? Is it just a coincidence that they all happened to like boys? I would wish that this weren't the case but I can't see any real analytical way to disprove it.

Ahem. If you have a strong stomach, take a sex tour around the Internet some day. "ATM" is not just the rage among homosexual sex addicts.

The objective research I've seen indicates that gay men (but not gay women) are somewhat overrepresented in the pedophile statistics, but not to the overwhelming extent that a lot of people seem to imagine.

If it was safe for you to do an online search for hetero-oriented hard-core stuff, you'd find it's right up there in the sick department. And visit an "adult" bookstore in a big city, and you'll find that what they have on hand is appalling, and the ads in many of those publications are clearly peddling much worse and obviously illegal stuff that the store wouldn't dare carry. A good indicator, that's safer to check on, is the huge number of very young girls forced into prostitution in this country. There seems to be an endless market for it, and I'd hardly call a man who enjoys forcing himself on an unwilling 12-13 year old girl, who has been beaten and threatened into cooperating, "normal". The kiddie brothel hellholes of Thailand and the Philippines also have plenty of little girls.

As for the Catholic priests, the explanation is simple: the Catholic Church allows only boys to serve as "altar boys", there are no "altar girls"; and the Catholic Church has historically advocated sex segregation in schools and children's activities -- not so much any more, but it was definitely the case during the period in which most of the priest-child molestation took place. I attended a Catholic high school for one semester, and it looked to have been built in the 1950s or 1960s. Though it was fully integrated by the time I was there (late 1970s), it had been constructed as two separate schools, joined by gym and cafeteria facilities that were originally shared by boys and girls, but at different times. All the lockers on the "girls side" were numbered G-___, and all the lockers on the "boys side" were numbered B-___. So for most of the period in question, priests had little unsupervised access to young girls, and lots of unsupervised access to young boys. In addition, the Catholic priesthood's prohibition of marriage ensures that a disproportionately large percentage of its entering members will be, consciously or subconsciously gay. It's just not an attractive option to a healthy heterosexual male, and men who do find it attractive may not realize at the outset why they find it attractive, but many will figure it out later.
