after some investigation into this incident they found that he had modified the gun with a ported barrel but left the same slide on the gun that did not have the port holes for the gases to escape.

If true, That is considered: A. contributory negligence, and: B. voids the factory warranty.

That reminds me of a Glock I once had. It was a 17L and had the long slide with a port in the slide, however the barrel was solid all the way out.

I needed money back around 1990 and put it on a table at a gun show. A couple of guys from the "Gulf Breeze Pistol Parlor" looked at it a couple of times. After about an hour, they came back and bought it. They clearly thought it was unusual. I don't know if it really was or not.

IF this is the same incident Glock has the gun. There are burn marks inside the upper portion of the frame that were clearly caused by port holes in the barrel. When the gun was taken back by Glock the original barrel was back in the gun. This guy put the original barrel back in the gun and then tried to blame Glock.
