I remember learning in school how Soviet children were so indoctrinated that they coolly turned in their own parents for unauthorized thoughts. I was more horrified by that than the threat of nuclear war.

they did the same in iraq. if children were upset with their parents, they would tell the govt that their parents were badmouthing saddam. poof---parents gone.

this also occurred with one spouse to another, ie the husband would get sick of his wife and tell their govt that she badmouths saddam.
