The Islamists overplayed their hand in this as thy usually do and it has, IMHO, had the net effect of hardening attitudes in the West and in the EU in particular.

While further intimidating the media -- which was very likely the whole point.

The EU is now considering a "code of professional responsibility" for the media.

And the American MSM, you will note, has YET to display any of the cartoons which have been the source of so much news.

Radical Islam is successfully co-opting the media for their own use. The media has become passive...and responsive only to Islamist stimuli.
