Norwegians more skeptical of Islam
Aftenposten (Norway) ^ | February 08 2006

Nearly half of those polled say they have become more skeptical about Islam as a religion after the global uproar around the Mohammed caricatures.

The result comes from a survey carried out by InFact for Norway's best-selling newspaper VG.

According to the survey, which was carried out on Tuesday, 47.8 percent of those asked said they were more skeptical about Islam, while 36.7 percent their opinion of the religion had not been affected by the caricature controversy. A small group of 6.5 percent said they were less skeptical about Islam after the turmoil.

At the same time, 30.8 percent say that they have become more mistrustful towards Norwegian Muslims after the caricature reactions, while 53.6 percent say their attitude towards this group has not been affected. About 6.8 percent said they were less suspicious of Norwegian Muslims after the controversy.

Fully seven out of ten polled said they expected Muslims in Norway to have a harder time in the wake of the international controversy.

A lot of Norwegians appear to be slow learners. I know it's hard to let go of those cherished illusions about multiculturalism, Lars, but it's time.

Late to the party. But at least Europe is starting to wake up to its major problem.

"...while 53.6 percent say their attitude towards this group has not been affected..."

And what did these 53.6% think before the fracas? Perhaps their attitude was 100% negative before the cartoon comedy began -- so it wasn't possible for it to get any worse.

Although I am not old enough to remember the Hostage crisis, but it sounds like it should have woken up the whole world.

Great people those Norwegians. Not too upset over muslims raping their women, but they are now starting to get a little more concerned. Cartoon rage trumps rape to Norwegians?

Those Norwegians appear to be an ignorant pile of self absorbtion. True leftists.

"A small group of 6.5 percent said they were less skeptical about Islam after the turmoil."

Skeptical = "Marked by or given to doubt..."

How many of these 6.5% said that they were less skeptical, because the turmoil has removed all doubts?

Yeah, another crappy polling question - just like "Is the country headed in the right direction". Don't pollsters think about what they're asking?

About 6.8 percent said they were less suspicious of Norwegian Muslims after the controversy.

Those were the Muslims within the sample

"Don't pollsters think about what they're asking?"

Sometimes they know exactly what they're doing -- deliberately planting the seeds for the biased results they're after.

Either way -- these questions were, at best, incomplete.

Don't be misled by the way the poll was worded:
this controversy hasn't affected my view of muslims either - I still think their religion is a foul blight on the face of humanity; no change there!

Call me crazy, but this cartoon fiasco underlines an important point.

Just as you heal a boil by bringing it to a head so it's ripe for pricking, we should do all in our power to infuriate and incite the paranoid Islamic mind.

Let them know that we consider them the enemy, and are not only not afraid... but RELISH in poking holes in their cultish superstitions.

"Don't pollsters think about what they're asking?

Of course they do!
If they didn't give the questions careful thought, how could they get the results they wanted?

Just ask another arab, Mr. Zogby.

Good! It's about time there is a backlash to the backlash, to the backlash,to the backlash. Will the Norwegans riot now?
