Much as I love conservatism, Republicans in power today are no such creatures. OK, and when was the Republican Party actually conservative? Since circa the 1960s they are more conservative then the Democrats but that's all. At least there are fewer liberal Republicans these days and even major RINOs like Chafee, Snowe, Collins and Specter are more conservative then the old Rockefeller Republicans (like Percy, Brooke, Javits or Rockefeller himself).
