As a Christian we can be very thankful that Christ had this did to him so we would not have to suffer this cause. We can beat our body's into pulp and it will have nothing to do with salvation, Christ did our suffering for us. Praise his wonderful Holy name, Jesus Christ our Savior.

As a Christian we can be very thankful As a Christian, you may know this phenomenon better as "Mortification of the flesh" as practiced by St. Francis and others. There was even a Christian movement called Flagellantism. Some still practice it to this day, usually during Lent. Monty Python even made fun of it in Holy Grail.
