I am not cheering because I think this is a "done deal"!!

My goodness...I watch C-span all of the time..and I know how the House and Senate work....

No, my cheering was for Bush just PUTTING IN THE BUDGET...and THEIR court to have to deal with.

He went all over America last year...and talked his head off trying to convince Americans that Social Security was in dire straits...AND that the younger generation should be "ALLOWED" to opt into private accounts...

And what happened? Not only dems...but even squishy GOPers bad mouthed him...even to the point of calling him "chicken little" about Soc. Security being in trouble..

This article just shows me that he has finally decided to be the grown up....if they aren't gonna take responsibility, he is....and THEY are gonna be the ones to have to explain to their constituents why they don't deserve the option of private accounts..

Well you didn't respond to anything I posted.

My point was this. Bush is good when it comes to talking the talk on certain domestic issues like Social Security reform. But he loses credibility with folks and specifically with conservatives, when he then turns around and signs off on the biggest government program since Medicare itself was created in 1965 under liberal Democrat LBJ. The Medicare Prescription Drug Program has pushed America closer to our Euro-socialist cousins and that is not the direction we should be headed. The Founding Fathers wanted this great nation to have a limited government. PresBush and the GOP Congress have expanded the federal bureaucracy like no US government in 40 years. Maybe in our entire history. It's time for some fiscal sanity in WashDC. Reagan advanced the first conservative Presidency since Coolidge. Gingrich gave us the first GOP Congress in 40 years. Now we have a GOP POTUS and a GOP Congress, yet after five long years, they can't get a damn thing done on domestic spending issues. Not to mention immigration reform. I call that pathetic leadership.

Funny how Bush forgot to mention to all these Americans that he'd signed a Social Security Totalization Agreement with Mexico that will grant Mexican illegal aliens and their Mexican national families access to our Social Security system and the effect this agreement will have on current condition of the SS system.

If you think it's in dire straits right now, wait'll you see what 20+ million illegal aliens and their familiies will do to it.
