Don't be ridiculous. He can't change the law with a budget item. Bush is more of a moron than I thought.

No the moron is a poster on a website who thinks their feelings about what a law means have any bearing on the matter. Since you are neither judge nor legislator, you hysteric opinions are just meaningless hot air. Nice you have feelings, please stop confusing them for facts.

The first part is right and since I don't know how much of a moron you are, I can't comment on your last sentence.

President Bush can't change the law since the congress does that, but he can make them accept or reject his proposals. The point is that he hasn't given up on SS change.

Nobody suggested the President could change the law with a proposed budget. Why shouldn't he put a plan into his budget? If the report is accurate, what's there to lose except making the Democrats have yet one more hysterical public fit and yet again state they are against SS reform? And possibly getting some Republicans to grow a spine on the issue.

Finally, you post little on this forum (don't bother trotting out your sign up date, it means nothing) and yet you come on this thread to call the President a moron.

*sniff!*

Mr. Peter,

I do presume you realize that the budget is the primary way in which the president drives his agenda in Congress.

Oh, you didn't? Well, who is the moron then...
