Current, as opposed to 4 years ago, base pay for an 0-4 with 16 years of service is 6,054.30/month, or 72651.60/year. Then their is Housing allowance (BAQ) and Subsistence (BAS) plus flight pay. In 2001 the base pay was 4,139.10/month (49669.20/year), plus BAQ(1,093.20/mo), BAS ($147.09/mo) plus FSA($250/mo)), plus flight pay (840.00/mo).
So about 70,000/year is not out of line. (I figured a Lt. Cmdr., but at 16 years the guy could have beem a Commander)
