Danish soldiers on patrol in southern Iraq came under attack but escaped unharmed, the Danish military headquarters said.
Iraqis shot at the patrol on Sunday as the Danish soldiers gave first aid to a group of children injured in a traffic accident south of Al-Qurnah, it said.
"They were shot at as they tried to help the children," Colonel Henrik Sommer said.
The soldiers shot back, withdrew from the area and took several of the children to hospital, he said.
Around 530 Danish soldiers are stationed in Iraq as part of a multinational force there, operating under British command in Basra, 550 kilometres south of Baghdad.
Denmark has been the target of angry protests in many Muslim countries following the publication in a Danish newspaper of cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohammed.
In Iraq on Monday, thousands of marchers demanded a fatwa, or Islamic ruling, calling for the killing of the Danish cartoonists.
However, Col Sommer said that "for the time-being" the government did not believe the attack was be linked to the Mohammed caricatures.
Danish Defence Minister Soeren Gade told Danish television DR1 that Denmark had increased security around its troops in Iraq.

When the mullahs have been deposed in Iran, when Mecca is a plate of radioactive glass, and Israel deports all Palestinians to whatever godforsaken Muslim hell hole will take them.
Sounds like good practice for when they return to Denmark.

And now they use violence to protest pictures depicting Muhammed as violent. Go figure.
We should kill all those that want to use violence as a tool. No exceptions.
Typical, shooting at kids again. And while no soldiers were hurt, they took several of the children to hospital,.
But of course, tomorrow, if it's not already, it will the Danes who hurt the kids, or at least their fault that the kids were hurt.
That was the problem in the first place, right after the 1st Arab Israeli war. No one would take them. They just used them to get at Israel, as they are doing to this day.
When will this BS stop?

Or until we kill them all.
Problem is that NO ONE wants the Palis. They truly are the unwanted guests on this planet.
Fellow Arabs refuse allowing them into places like Egypt or Saudi Arabia.
