Is is just my imagination, or, prior to the Slickster, were all former presidents addressed as "Former President"? It really grates on my ears when they say "President Clinton"!

No, I don't think it is your imagination. Chaps my hide too when I hear them (MSM talking heads)call him President. But we should have seen it coming. Remember after President Bush's inauguration, Clinton just couldn't leave town without doing a Pass & Review of the troops....that weren't even his anymore BTW!

I was wondering that too. The first few times I heard someone say "President Clinton" after he was out of office, I thought it was just a wishful slip up. But now they do it all the time.

Yeah, I have noticed that. I have also noticed that when people like russert and lauer interview W they call him Mr. Bush, not President Bush. That infuriates me.

IIRC the correct protocol is:
Sitting President: The President
Former President: President Jones
Form of address for either: Mr. President
First Lady, current or former: Mrs. Jones
Form of address for either: Mrs. Jones

Do you really think that 4 presidents would attend the funerals of the women you have named? If so, I have some swamp land for sale. You are delusional!
