Could be that the President has an old-school sense of responsbility about keeping live intel a secret.

Does anyone know if we had a warrent to listen in on the peace loving legitimate ruler of the sovereign nation of Iraq? Ramsey Clark will be adding this to the defense of Saddam.

"What you propose is what I propose; that we heal ourself. I truly believe that would be far more easily accomplished, what with the differences the Republican Party faces, than the chance that the Democratic Party can accomplish the same."
AMEN! But I am afraid our solution to our problem is going to be somewhat painful. I see us having to lose some power to gain more than we had. We have to "not" settle for Spectre's and the Snows. I know this is anecdotal, but here in Charlotte, we are just loaded with RINOs. These are the candidates the republican party are supporting. They have been scared by Pravda West (the Charlotte Observer) into marginalizing any real conservative that runs, afraid their pals at the country club wont invite them to any cocktail parties. Four years ago we had a State House speaker that had a legitimate majority, and he illegally created a co-speakership with a Rat. It seems the only way to get these spineless idiots out is to not vote for them but that give us the alternative, a Rat, but what's the difference. It's a nasty catch 22, but is there another choice?

They were removed to Syria before Desert Storm II... and they are still there. I think it was easier for the administration to admit they were wrong on WMD than to keep on saying "But, But...."

"It seems the only way to get these spineless idiots out is to not vote for them but that give us the alternative, a Rat, but what's the difference. It's a nasty catch 22, but is there another choice?" I hear ya! As you state it's not going to be easy. But in the long run I still believe that's better than cutting our nose off to spite our face.
The first objective is to get a handle on GOP leadership, and get them turned around to conservative core values. One way is to withhold donations to anyone but candidates who display proper credentials. Money speaks and it shouldn't take too long for the GOP to get the message. This would take funding candidates directly (not through the GOP machine) but that would be a big wake up call to the GOP.
Thanks to you and all the others who have repsonded to my uneducated ramblings. I'ts been an enjoyable and enlightening discussion.

We didn't really find true WMDSure we did. Mustard gas and sarin, IIRC. Just small amounts. But so what? That's kinda like being a little bit pregnant.

"I talked to one person relatively high up in DNI, and I asked him about this and asked are they going to follow up, and he looked at me and said, 'No we don't think so.' At this point, I guess you guys don't get it. If we want France, Germany and Russia on our side when we go against Iran, we can't disclose the origin of Saddam's WMDs. If we don't disclose that we found them, or acknowledge that they existed, then the origin can remain unknown to the world.

That is such a brilliant, clear statement.
Sigh. I really miss President Reagan. I'm going to miss President Bush soon enough.
To: IrishMike
I seriously believe that if we now found 500 missiles buried in the sand and 800 canisters of chemical weapons and 20 mobile bio-terror labs, it would not make a dent in the public's impression that no WMDs were found. The press would somehow diminish the findings to the point that the public would remain generally unaware what had been found. And the "no WMDs/ Bush lied" storyline would pass into history as fact.
To: Steve_Seattle
Sadly, there is truth to what you say.

While I'm not upset about the contents in this leak a great analogy keeps popping in my head,"loose lips still sink ships". I threw that "still" in there.

I have never doubted saddam had a big pile of WMD or that his henchmen moved them out of the country during the ramp up to Gulf War II.

I'd rather have the Republicans and another party, maybe the Constitution Party, as the strong ones.
We don't need no stinkin' socialists, we have plenty of RINOs to perform that function.

I'd like to think that our country is closely surveying all of Syria's movements, even their ant farms...if anything moves out of Syria I'd just as soon see it go up in a big cloud (preferrably a MOAB cloud)...
