No I wasn't, were you? The way I heard it told was that as soon as he got out of the plane he took off, not trying to help put out the fire. Then they got him out of his room at the other end of the ship and got him off the ship on a helicopter. We will probably never know for sure though because just like another self-proclamed navy hero with the same first name he will not release his navy records.

Just a little thin. Could we get at least a little more info on the source? Also, the guy was fully trained to take off and land jets on a carrier. I would think there would be some type of standing order for pilots not to get involved in fire fighting if they can avoid it; too much of an investment in their pilot training and too little investment in damage control training. Any ex-carrier guys know the rules?

No I wasnt there either, but the source of my information is documented not "I think I heard someone say". After escaping his burning plane he made his way to Flight breifing room. He then went back to the flight deck and helped shove live bombs and rockets overboard. I very much resent your unsubstaniated accusations that Sen. McCain is a coward. You sir are a despicable POS.
