What a wonderful way to bring hope from loss.

Indeed a wonderful way to bring hope out of tragedy.

I wrote the following e-mail reply to a friend during Alan Keyes' run for the White House. I think it may be germaine to this thread and post it in that spirit.

I suspect Alan would be one frustrated dude were he to win the office. He's NOT correct that the American people have "lost" their moral compasses: They took them from their pockets and THREW them away! The prevailing attitude of many American citizens is "Leave me alone so that I may sin in peace." This explains how Bill Clinton's poll numbers (or is that "pole" numbers?) could rise after they learned that he was banging an intern -- and God knows who or what else -- in the White House. Hell, Tom, that philosophy explains the entire Clinton administration!

My position on abortion has changed somewhat: I participated in a number of anti-abortion rallies and, when I was doing the radio show, had folks like Randall Terry, Mary Boyert (who is a neighbor) and others on for long interviews. I would continue to do so were I still on the air.

I have, however, come to realize that it is neigh unto impossible to deflect those who are set on killing their babies in the former sanctity of the womb from the course they have set for themselves. I have reconciled myself to an understanding that they will have to answer to a Higher Authority for their actions. I would NOT want to be in their shoes when they close their eyes for the last time. We're talking unrelenting, eternal, soul-grinding PAIN here. One trifles with HIS law at great peril! And "murder" (which was, as I understand it, the original Greek text of that Commandment) -- especially of the innocent -- is about as perilous as it gets. Many of the women who submit to abortion can be repentant and be spared the express car to hell. The "doctors" and others who facilitate and profit from the act are in BIG trouble and I doubt that He will listen to ANYTHING they have to say about how remorseful they might be at the end.

And most of these women DO suffer for killing their babies.

My pastor used to tell the story of a black pharmacist friend who could nearly always tell which of his customers had had an abortion. They had this incredible sadness about them and were emotionally very tight when they came in to get their tranquilizer scripts filled. He was also a strong pro-lifer and on more than one occasion, he gently probed to ask some of those he got to know why they were on these medications for such long periods. Almost without exception, they "broke" right there in the store and wept as they told him that they'd killed their baby. You see, all but the hardest cases KNOW in their heart of hearts (where God lives) that they'd done a terrible thing.

I'm about as staunch a libertarian as you'll meet and don't want government messin' with me and mine. But I also understand that if the civil government (which IS, when things are in proper order "...ordained of God..." according to the Bible I read) can not only countenance but ENCOURAGE us to defy God's laws in ANY way, THERE WILL BE NO FREEDOM! PERIOD!!

The NEXT step in this pernicious process of cheapening life is to begin to rid society of the old and the infirm (what Hitler called the "useless eaters"). You and I are old enough to soon qualify for this new state "service" and could, unless we come to our senses, one day be taken to a nearby Euthanasia Center for "treatment."
You're probably old enough to remember a time when American women DIDN'T kill over a million babies each and every year those who did were viewed as pariahs.

Then consider that the MTV Generation -- the one that helped elect the reprobate now infesting the White House -- DOESN'T remember ANY of that and, if not already, will soon be the majority.

And THAT scares me -- maybe to death!

I had a friend some years ago who had an abortion. The guy was married, so he talked her into it.

Two months later I went over to her place, I found letters that she had been writing to her aborted child on her nightstand. She had decided that she was a girl, gave her a name and everything. The letters were the saddest things that I have ever read in my life, full of heart-felt apologies and a sense of loss. No, I wasn't sneaking, she knew that I read them.

She never got over it.

I was told that in one major city when Rachel's Vineyard, an abortion recovery nonprofit service, contacted the Yellow Pages to place an ad they were turned down, because the expert who takes as the orders told them "There is nothing to recover from after an abortion."

God bless this bereaved father. I can just imagine the sleepless nights he and the girl's mother are experiencing, wishing their daughter had let them help her recover from her grief and shame.

She was depressed after committing an abortion... imagine that! Why you'd think abortion was the most wonderful thing in the world to listen to the demoncrats!

Thank the Lord for what this man is doing. Give him strength and wisdom Lord.
