Does anyone remember a movie probably made in the 30's or 40's? It may have been "Gunga Din".
It had these strange maniacal memobers of some unnamed sect. They were basically pure evil.
It just struck me that it is really about Islam they just wouldn't call it that.

They were called the Thugees, from which we get the word "thug." they favored death by strangling, and worshipped Kali who was, I believe the goddess of destruction
Yep sounds pretty familiar.

Actually, Gunga Din, a great movie for a kid in the '40s, was about the "Thugees," an evil sect.
In 19th century India, three British soldiers and a native waterbearer must stop a secret mass revival of the murderous Thuggee cult before it can rampage across the land.
But islam is not that different.

You are thinking of the Thugs, they robbed and murdered travelers in India. They were eventually eradicated (or driven underground) by the British. Check on the web there are some good books about the subject.
