... one of the vilest men in the history of American sports, George Presston Marshall. An interesting story you have probably heard but I will tell anyway.
Marshall was opposed to the Dallas Cowboys, or any Dallas team, being admitted to the NFL. The Cowboys owner, Clint Murchison, learned that the Redskin fight song, Hail to the Redskins, was not copyrighted and copyrighted it himself. He told Marshall that unless the Cowboys were admitted to the NFL the Redskins could never play Hail to the Redskins again. The Cowboys were admitted.
Clint Murchison and Tex Schram were pretty slick.
