Posted on 02/06/2006 1:40:56 PM PST by radar101

Ayaan Hirsi Ali, the Dutch politician forced to go into hiding after the murder of filmmaker Theo van Gogh, responds to the Danish cartoon scandal, arguing that if Europe doesn't stand up to extremists, a culture of self-censorship of criticism of Islam that pervades in Holland will spreadin Europe. Auf Wiedersehen, free speech.

SPIEGEL: Hirsi Ali, you have called the Prophet Muhammad a tyrant and a pervert. Theo van Gogh, the director of your film "Submission," which is critical of Islam, was murdered by Islamists. You yourself are under police protection. Can you understand how the Danish cartoonists feel at this point?

Hirsi Ali: There is no freedom of speech in those Arab countries where the demonstrations and public outrage are being staged.

Take heed from the words of this woman. Islam is out to destroy western civilization. Arm yourselves with knowledge and the truth.

Radar101,

This is an exceptional interview. She's a remarkably clear thinker and a great interview.

I wish the interview were longer.

Nice post.

Ms. Hirsi Ali is a tremendously courageous women. If you read the article she will spell out in great detail why we should support Denmark and et al. openly and with confidence and steadfastness, after all freedom of religion, speech and press is what our soldier, Marines, sailors, airmen and coastguard are fighting for.

Radar101, thanks for this excellent post. Hirsi Ali is now a synonym for the word courage.
