The leader of the Islamic community in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Mustafa Ceric, has said that the publishing of cartoons with offensive contents for Muslims in some European countries shows that Europe should be treated for an illness called 'Islamophobia', reported the Croatian news agency HINA.
According to the agency, the Bosnian media on Saturday quoted the Islamic dignitary as saying in Sarajevo that 'it is really ugly what kind of messages are being sent these days to Muslims in Europe'.
Europe's attitude towards the highest values of Muslims, expressed through a minor newspaper in Denmark, would hardly be worth mentioning if it had not concealed something more dangerous, namely hatred against Islam and Muslims, Ceric said.
This is dangerous for Europe and Europe should be treated for this illness, the illness called Islamophobia, he added.
The leader of the Islamic community in Croatia, Sevko Efendi Omerbasic, has said that Muslims in Croatia together with Muslims all over the world should raise their voice against those who insult their Islamic values, including Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The Jutarnji List daily on Saturday quoted Omerbasic as saying at the Friday prayer that Muslims should also be prudent, according to the tenets of the Qur'an.
Commenting on the offensive cartoon from the Danish paper which has angered Muslims worldwide, Omerbasic spoke about some historical events from the period when Islam was established.
In this context, he said that Muslims are allowed to defend themselves but they should never be attackers, regardless of reasons.
He said it was absurd to depict God's prophet as a warrior, adding that the latest events, unfortunately, had shown that the West where Islam was very frequently presented as a dangerous religion, still held many prejudices.
A Croatian Catholic dignitary, Hvar Bishop Slobodan Stambuk, has urged Catholics to follow the example set by Muslims who stood up for their religious values.
During his sermon in the Adriatic resort of Dubrovnik to commemorate the city's patron saint, the bishop supported Muslims' position.
"We can see these days how our brothers in Abraham respond to insults levelled against their sacrosanct principles," the dignitary said, praising their move to defend their values through diplomatic and state activities.

I can only wonder how many Serb churches will be burned over this.
Doesn't the term "dignitary" imply someone with some semblance of dignity? Thus making the phrase "Muslim dignitary" an oxymoron.
'Islamophobia' - Compared to what?
Saudi Arabia - Conversion by a Muslim to another religion is punishable by death. Bibles are illegal. Churches are illegal.
Yemen - Bans proselytizing by non-Muslims and forbids conversions. The Government does not allow the building of new non-Muslim places of worship.
Kuwait - Registration and licensing of religious groups. Members of religions not sanctioned in the Koran may not build places of worship. Prohibits organized religious education for religions other than Islam.
Egypt - Islam is the official state religion and primary source of legislation. Accordingly, religious practices that conflict with Islamic law are prohibited. Muslims may face legal problems if they convert to another faith. Requires non-Muslims to obtain what is now a presidential decree to build a place of worship.
Algeria - The law prohibits public assembly for purposes of practicing a faith other than Islam. Non-Islamic proselytizing is illegal, and the Government restricts the importation of non-Islamic literature for distribution.
Jordan - Has the death penalty for any Muslim selling land to a Jew.
Sudan - Conversion by a Muslim to another religion is punishable by death.
Pakistan - Conversion by a Muslim to another religion is punishable by death. Bans proselytizing by non-Muslims. Christians regularly put in prison for charges of blasphemy.
Are they looking for the world to turn them into french fries! Good Gosh they are insane...
Hey! You beat me to it.
Does this creep know what Muhammad did in Medina with Jewish tribe? The word 'defend' has a different meaning for ROP cult followers, like in "I defended you from your life and your property with my sword"
Don't these Serb and Croatian "Muslims" realize they are Muslim today becasue some Arab raped their great, great, great grandmother?

Doesn't deadly rioting and the recall of ambassadors over a stupid cartoon show that these aren't just idle stereotypes? Seems to me it isn't the Europeons with the problem but the muslims.
They are the descendents of collaborators, the medieval capos.
It's one of Islam's grand traditions, like beheading your captured prisoners, both still practiced today!
