As reported in the Register and throughout the local news media last week, Citizens for Constitutional Rights is a coalition of Hispanic and union groups that is threatening a limited boycott of businesses in the city of Costa Mesa.
At a press conference in front of City Hall on Thursday, the group also asked city residents to begin a campaign of "nonviolent civil disobedience" by refusing to cooperate with police officers who are investigating crimes.
What prompted the protest is a plan approved last year by the Costa Mesa City Council to train local police officers to help enforce federal immigration laws.
But the coalition group's organizers don't believe that. Using the sort of overheated rhetoric that is too often heard on both sides of the illegal immigration issue, they insist that the enforcement plan is just the beginning of a Nazi-style reign of terror against all immigrants, legal and illegal.
So in an effort to force the "silent Germans" of Costa Mesa into taking a side, the group says that unless the City Council reverses its decision, over the next 60 days its representatives will visit every business in the city all 6,000 of them and ask them to display posters opposing the enforcement proposal.
After that 60-day period, the group will call for a boycott of all businesses that don't display the posters, which feature a red international "no" symbol over the words "Carona-Mansoor Police-Migra Plan" migra being a Spanish reference to immigration officers and, in large letters, the words "Citizen's For Constitutional Rights."

I actually registered on Free Republic today just to post this, it had me so upset. This is no different from the Nazi's forcing the Jewish shopkeepers to post Stars of David on their windows- before they came back and smashed them.
"..by refusing to cooperate with police officers who are investigating crimes..."
Will anyone really now refuse who wouldn't have anyway?
'Illegals' ping.
bfl
Start drafting illegal immigrants, and things will change.
When the LaRaza Nazis come back and smash the shopkeeper's windows, will the government react like the Wiemar government?
I'll give odds that they will.
What is it about the word "illegal" that these pinheads don't understand?
Nazi comparisons mean nothing anymore, thanks to abusive analogies from Leftists.
"refusing to cooperate with police officers who are investigating crimes..."
All the more reason to deport them.
Welcome to Free Republic.
And welcome to FR, bildabare.
The Hispanic groups threatened a boycott of Phoenix, last year and everyone just laughed. Nothing happened and no one would have cared if they did boycott.

I agree. But the way things are going, and I see these people and their demonstrations from time to time- they don't need much incentive to riot and smash things. Dont' need an excuse. With the Mexican soldiers coming and going across our border at the rio Grande, and the Muslims rioting over cartoons, I can see us being next. These illegals think they own the place.
If a member of the "immigrant community" is the victim of a crime by a member of the "nonimmigrant community", does this promise of silence still hold?
If yes, they might want to reconsider.
Darwin Award ping!
LaRaza are pretty damned equivalent to Nazis.
This is a good comparison for once.
We give everybody a gun and ask every Hispanic looking individual to show their birth certificate; if they can't or it's from a craphole third world country, we introduce them to Mr. Smith and Mr. Wesson.
Let's see...keep your security in good working order (shotgun, baseball bat, alarms, locks) and post a sign NOW that says, "this establishment reserves the right to refuse service..." etc.
You don't have to let a gang enter your shop. These people "threatening" to go "door to door" "demanding" that signs be displayed should not be permitted to enter any business that doesn't want to deal with them or their signs and demands.
I'm proud that Costa Mesa is finally stepping up and trying to enforce our existing laws. People in this country illegally are responsible for breaking the law and should be shown the door, both from businesses and the city and state and country.
They made a choice to opt to engage in illegal behavior rather than pursue immigration legally. It's no surprise that they're not going to cooperate with law enforcement...they have been not cooperating by their mere presence here.
Ship them home to wherever they originated.
Welcome to FreeRepublic! I know a lot of us would really enjoy/value reading your updates about this situation.
"This is no different from the Nazi's forcing the Jewish shopkeepers to post Stars of David on their windows- before they came back and smashed them."
The difference is you can go out and buy a shotgun and defend your business. The Jewish shopkeepers couldn't.
HA! "SILENT GERMANS!" I love it, I really love it.
