Probably they are just worried that the insurance adjuster will find out they are fakes and the real ones are long gone.

Somehow to me, I get the impression that this guy does not seem very remorseful for what he did? He seems to be making a joke about what had happened? It may have been an accident, but still, why seemingly joke about what you did? Pretty crass if you ask me!

He fell down some stairs. He could've been seriously injured, or even killed. The fact that he's okay is reason enough for him to be in high spirits.

The fact that he destroyed some priceless objets in the process is just a bonus.

I've spent a lot of time in an art museum, and the fragile stuff is generally behind glass. It's the bronzes, stonework, paintings, and modern art installations that are kept exposed. I admit I was kind of creeped out when I saw a buddy poking at a two thousand year old idol.
