IMHO the Islamics are not dumb.

It reminds me of the Rushdie affair where the threats to his life served to warn off many who might dare criticize AND became a cover to gain power in places where there was no concept of freedom of speech.

The Islamic terms dhimmie and ummah need to be understood when considering the cartoon riots.

They are part of the law for Islamics.

I do not think this is just the free speech issue that so many in Western Civilization believe it is.

The Islamics may have much to gain and little to lose here while the West chases its tail in regards to free speech, something they do not worry about.
