what a joke that is. this specific monitoring aside, all these senators know exactly what the NSA protocols are, and have been for DECADES, regarding overseas communications. and now they want to cut the funding for it?

I read a book a couple of weeks ago, The Fifth Horseman by Larry Collins; it explained in GREAT DETAIL about NSA and even what it looks like inside the buildings and what they do and how they do it.

It's a great book -- everybody should read it; it's about Triopli putting a nuke in NYC.

And it was written in 1980!!!!!

They better not...and besides I don't see them doing anything but whine over this matter.

Agreed. About what a joke these hearings are.

It's simple.

Democrats are using this to fundraise and hope they can damage the President.

"Republicans" like Specter and Linds are using the hearings for the typical power struggle between the branches. The admin is defending it's share of power, Congress wants to grab more power for itself. Nothing new, been the case from the start, but despicable all the same.

Cornyn bats cleanup for admin.

The American people are not outraged by terrorists overseas having their calls monitored if in contact with someone here in the United States. This can only hurt Democrats in national elections.

As much as the Democrats in the Senate would love impeachment hearings on trumped up charges? Impeachment originates in the House. They don't have the power. As much as Specter might cherish the power rush, even if he wouldn't necessarily do it, he doesn't have the power to call for those hearings either.

That means, provided House remains in Rep hands which I have no reason to believe it will not, the Democrats are peddling their wheels uselessly through their hot air.

The ONLY matter to have concern about at this time is Linds...and McCain...and those part of their power grabbing brigade crafting more legislation similiar to the Al Quida Bill of Rights, usurping more power from the Executive Branch and tying their hands further in the WOT.

These hearings will have no impact on their willingness to do this. Only another SCJ opening could stave off that occurrence.
