Posted on 02/06/2006 6:08:53 AM PST by ken5050

Good Monday morning, once again, fellow political jinkies. The NFL season may be over, but the political season inside the Beltway is 24/7/365. So join us, if you can, as those wacky Dems on the Senate Judiciary committee reprise their pitiful efforts to once again smear President Bush and score political points..

We all warned Bush and Santorum not to support Arlen Specter. Pat Toomey would have been elected as a real Conservative who wouldn't undermine the war on terror. But they didn't listen. They supported a man who has no backbone, who does not respect American law, and who is disloyal to the core. Now they get what they deserve. It is a shame that America has to suffer the damage from this scumbag Senator as well.

Remember when the senators all swore to vote on the evidence in clinton's impeachment trial? They did not.

Nah, just a turf war now on swearing or not swearing in the witness........

Yup, And it doesn't look like Spector is going to budge on swearing the AG in.

Specter: Leahy and I have not disagreed on very much. I went back to the transcript and found Feingold's vigorous cross examination of AG's confirmation and know he raised issues of torture and searches without warrants.

And I've reviewed the provisions of US (some section code) and of US Code where Oliver North testified and there are provisions there and it's my judgment it's unnecessary to swear the AG in.

Leahy: If the witness doesn't object, why don't we ask AG. I know only you can swear in, but I'd give it myself -- why not just do it.

Specter: The answer why I won't do it is I've examined the facts and the law. But I'll ask the AG if he objects or minds being sworn in. The reason I won't swear him in isn't up to him. It's up to me and I'm the Chairman.

Leahy: He's been here 3 times and was sworn in before.

Specter: The CHair has ruled. And if there's a vote, I hav a pretty good idea, how it will come out.

Voting: Not to swear in passes.

Feingold asks for roll call vote which they are doing now.

The big deal is that Democrats often have planned Purjury traps set up for Republican witnesses, which wont work without the witness being sworn in.

No swearing in = no perjury = no Democrat talking points.

Feingold: I request to see the proxies given by the Republican senator(s).

Specter: The practice is to rely on the staffers. Without counting that vote, well, we can rephrase the question if there's a serious challenge to the proxy.
