The political nature of this lawsuit shows up by the fact that they could easily get insurance through another insurer. They just want to be able to attack the Catholic one.
DISCUSSION ABOUT:
Homosexual's complaint "may pit state against church"

This is a PRIVATE and Catholic hospital.
I believe there is ample legal room for PRIVATE, Catholic hospitals to exercise their own judgement in areas that conflict with their moral, ethical and religious principles as a business.
This "homosexual doctor" should count his lucky stars he has a job but I think this Catholic hospital should get more in touch with its Medical Staff for a number of reasons. As in, review their standards since anyone working at a private, Catholic hospital is bound by certain standards of practice.
That can't govern one's private LIFE, however, and I realize that. But, this man is forcing issues for obvious reasons. All it takes is Medical Staff intervention by other physicians to clarify the actual issues involved here.
Yes, that's it, exactly. Homosexuals strike at Catholicism again.
Yes, so true.
Ditto. I know I don't see any physician who is homosexual, for a myriad of reasons. Mostly, I do not rely on their judgement and reasoning where my healthcare is concerned. But there are other concerns of the religious kind.
You are so right! Now what can we do? And hollywood also needs to be put in their place. Except I think they may bring about their own demise, at least I can pray they do. The church leaders need to be brave in preaching the gospels and christians need to be true to the gospel.
So now the homosexuals want the catholic church to fund their recreational sex fetish.
He is free to obtain private insurance for his posterior buddy to continue his deathstyle.
I think choosing a doctor is the last bastion of absolute power to discriminate. Women are allowed to discriminate against male doctors and men are likewise allowed. (at least in theory for men) I can expect that if a patient knows their doctor with that knife or needle is engaging in a high risk lifestyle then it is their absolute right to not use them. There are other doctors.
(there is a reason homosexuals are not allowed to donate blood)
The Bill of Rights was originally drafted to protect the general citizenry from a possible unrepresentative government. It is now used to protect vulnerable minorities from dominant social majorities.
All because of the "incorporation" inherent in the 14th Amendment.
No more husband, no more wife, no more SPOUSE.
Now the PC mediots will say lifeparter.
Not "the first lady, Mr. Bush" now it will be "the first lifepartner, Laura Bush."
Mr. Mrs, Miss, even Mzzzzzzz will be a forbiddent gender identifier.
(/dark sarcasm....I hope)
Be well and have a Joy Joy Day.
B.S. It's the money as well as the agenda.
Yes, it was in California, concerning Catholic Charities.
And unfortunately the Catholic Church caved.
Rather than simply shut down Catholic Charities, they complied with the order to do the immoral.
I suppose their logic was that so very many people are dependent on Catholic Charities that to pull the plug would cause massive suffering, and the lesser of two evils would be to comply.
But then, that will nearly always be true, for just about anything, won't it?
I was really holding out hope, in that California case, that when the ruling went the wrong way the Church would say that it COULD NOT breach its moral obligations to God, and shut down Catholic Charities in California, provoking the horrendous social crisis that the loss of such a massive provider of services would entail. That would have gotten the necessary attention to reverse the bad law.
But the Church caved. Based on that experience, I don't have a lot of hope that the result in Connecticut will be much different. If a court orders the Catholic Church to pay for the insurance of a sodomite couple, the California precedent is that the Church will OBEY the court, and won't shut down the hospital or withdraw the services.
They are looking for affirmation of their life style.
