So your an animal lover huh? How 'bout squirrels? Coyotes love them too! Rabbits? Coyotes love them. Wild turkeys? Yep, coyotes really, really, love them. Their eggs too. Ducks? You guessed it coyotes love them. I could go on.

I'm from Alabama, lived here all my life. Hunted all my life from 8 yrs on. Never saw a coyote till about 20 yrs ago. Let these critters move in to an area and don't control them and there goes your game. Don't think they'll take down a deer? Think again. EVERYONE who hunts anything HATES coyotes.

You are describing the cycle of life, animals doing what they were born to do. Keeping the rodent population down, thinning herds, picking off the weak ones.

Let me explain a little something to you. I do not advocate not controlling or managing the population of coyotes or any other animal. I am not a nature or animal worshipper nor do I believe that grasshoppers have the right to vote. I simply believe in G-d, that everything (not just the human race) was created by G-d for a purpose (ultimately, for us), and that therefore we should cherish as well as carefully manage all wildlife.

I seem to find myself in an ideological bind. I believe that aside from G-d there is no meaning to anything, yet I find myself in a world where people either deny G-d and somehow begin seeing a "great circle of life" in which "everything is holy" or else claim to believe in G-d and act as if the only thing He ever created was the human race. What, He came upon this planet crowded with stuff that was already here and just decided to put us here?

I am Fundamentalist enough to believe that at one time there was a pradaisical Edenic state in which 'Adam ruled all the creatures in harmony (in fact, we weren't even given permission to kill animals for food until after the Flood) and don't know but what someday in the World to Come such a state may return to the earth. The refusal to see in animals anything other than evolved machines to me smacks of a phenomenalism and an atheism that has no place in the mind of anyone who claims to believe in G-d.

Finally, I don't hunt, but I absolutely defend the right of people to hunt and kill animals for food, clothing, etc., provided it is done within the guidelines G-d gave us. I can't figure out people who defend the killing of animals by other animals but who think human beings don't have the same right--especially when these same people claim to believe that "man is just another animal!"

Conservatives have a nasty habit of letting liberals manipulate them into opposing or supporting anything just by taking a position on it, thus the spectacle of anti-abortion people fretting about "the nanny state" and Southern Baptists defending "the right to smoke." Unfortunately liberal nature worship (a bizarre reactionary streak in people who worship "progress" above all else) has turned some conservatives into thinking G-d put us here merely in order to exterminate everything else and coat the world in concrete. To me that's not even funny.

Okay. You may all commence calling me a "communist" now.

Funny how some people (cough--Tolkien--cough) get away with being "tree huggers."
