There's a quote from one of the ancient Greek philosophers, bemoaning how the youth were rude to their elders, disobedient, gobbled up dainties at the table, took wine to excess, consorted with publicans and harlots, etc. Will try to find it.
The Romans kept things in check by giving parents the legal right to kill their own children- even as adults.

The twenties is when we started getting flooded with Bolsheviks from Russia. They came here and started their own little revolution that continues to this day. Many of their decendents are ACLU lawyers.
