That's what I was thinking when reading your Larry Sabato's Dirty Thirty posting. Sabato isn't taking into consideration all those points.

The dems are really quite stupid to continually go after Bush on his strong point, National Security. World events continue to go our way to focus folks on what is at stake. The rantings of the Iranian president and their no-stop nuclear policy, the recent election of Hamas in Palestine and the Muslim rage at cartoons only serve to remind people just how dangerous it is out there. Do they really think democratic appeasement is going to make it safer? NO!

This week I wrote a letter to the editor of our local rag and called in to a few radio talk shows defending our terrorist surveillance program. We all need to do our part. Now Seattle Conservative, I'm in Red Republican Alabama, but you're up there surrounded by heathen democrats. I hope you're using your skills in the local media to enlighten them there!

Excellent post here, the dems were starting down the wrong path before Bubba and the wench but they drastically accelerated the slide.
It didn't help their cause either to realzie that the clintons had such and iron clad hold on things that nothing less than their way or the highway would be tolerated.

I have a headache and hate in-fighting on the thread so I am going to take two aspirins and come back in the morning.

Thanks. Not mine, but the Pipes people did it well and it seems to have more information than one can digest. If nothing else, I plan on looking at what Pipes has to say on MidEast issues as they appear.

With our new Media help, it should not be too long and the Public will know what traitors the MSM have become. They did not get that way overnight, it has taken Decades. Most of the NBC crowd Gregory,Russert,Hillary Rodham Greenspan,Williams have been this way for a very long time, it has only been in the last 5 years since the democrats have been out of the White House, and Congressional leadership that they have been so poisonous for the Safety of America. They are really getting stark raving mad since they see the Judiciary heading away from them also. They rarely get the interviews that they got with Slick willie or Hillary or Jimmah Carter. They do not understand that Republicans and George Bush especially look at them like the enemy because they are.

Did you see Rasmussen's poll of Dubya today? He's at 44%. Dubya was at 50% on Tuesday, so he's lost 6 points since. I don't know why this is, but hope it isn't the SOTU. I do notice a drop of 2 points for Republicans, from 82% to 80%, but this might just be statistical noise, or maybe still unhappy over spending and Clinton the brother remarks. Still, if some Republicans are unhappy, doesn't mean they'll suddenly vote democrat!

Rasmussen's Bush Approval Daily poll.

Polls cannot be accurate because the reasons for disapproval vary. Democrats hate Bush so that's the only issue. Republican will approve or disapprove on issues and it can change overnight effecting the poll.

Just a thought.

Why don't they(the rats) just say we are for commie values and be done with it.

######

I have been using "leftist" in place of "liberal" for some time, because there is nothing wrong with the basic meaning of "liberal." But I am seriously moving toward using "socialist if not communist" instead of "leftist." It is time to
"speak truth to power." (Isn't that what they are fond of saying?)

"Progressive" works well too. Double check the definition and you'll see why.

I would listen in amazement as the talking heads would proclaim that no president could get re=elected with his poll numbers under 50%.....therefore Kerry was going to win.

The fact that Kerry's poll numbers were about 45% never seemed to factor into their illogic.

All the while they had President Bush at 48 or 49 with their phony samples.

I know everyone else is probably on the SB thread- and I have been MIA all day- but I just say Brit on FOX about the "CARTOON"

BRIT NAILED IT! THE HOWLING HYPOCRISY IS DEAFENING!

I am SICK of these "religious" Muslims "PROTESTING" a freakin' CARTOON-

CELEBRATING 9/11

And then SILENT on the ATTACKS of Jews and Christians worldwide..

DO NOT DEMAND RESPECT- DON'T EVEN EXPECT TOLERANCE- when your actions are so abhorent.

How dare you behead my sisters and brothers who are sacraficing their lives to FREE YOUR PEOPLE, and then SCREAM and riot over a cartoon that offends you!

YOU SHOULD BE THANKFUL THAT WE ARE CIVILIZED enought to use CARTOONS to "attack" you instead of using the REAL POWER AND MUSCLE WE AR CAPABLE OF!

WE ARE MEEK! YOU ARE ANIMALS!

Meek means POSSESSING great power, but NOT weilding your power in arrogance or impuned with ego.

I'll stop the rant here and end with a big "dean" like YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARG!

One of the things that Hayden said today...to "reassure" people that this wasn't DOMESTIC spying, was that if a known Al-queda figure was making a phone call to the US from somewhere in Canada, say....then under what the NSA is doing, they "could" listen...

BUT, if that same person where to move to Buffalo NY...and make a phone call to the same person in the US...the COULD NOT listen..

I think it's important to note that Hayden was always careful to say "under this program" when he made statements like this, on both shows he was on today (one instance I heard, the other I read) and in other appearances I've seen. He also emphasized the extensive use of FISA.

What this says to me is that they have many layers of surveillance and they chose the layer that is appropriate for how they intend to use the intelligence. Evidence from a FISA authorized wiretap is admissable in court. A wiretap under this program would not, itself, be admissable in court, but I think the administration believed (before the NYT leaked the program) that info from this program would have been appropriate for getting a FISA warrant and the results of that surveillance could then be used in court. At the time that the one (Clinton appointed leftist activist) FISA judge resigned "in protest" it was reported that he had told the White House "don't even think of brining anything from this (NSA program) to me to get a warrant." Number one that means he had been informed about the program, number two that means that the idea had been breached (and was probably accepted by the other members of the secret FISA court).

Then there are (I hope) electronic and other intelligence gathering activities that would never be used for any purpose in court, therefore it doesn't matter if some judge would rule the evidence derived from them inadmissable. The perp would be dead (if the operation were successful). That type of surveillance would apply in the Buffalo hypothetical.

At least I hope that's what I'm hearing in his choice of words. And, of course, Jack Bauer will be doing the surveillance.

Great analysis....and I agree...I have even heard explanations before that the type of surviellance was to STOP an attack..NOT catch someone for prosecution.

Thas was the "easiest" explanation...but, still, the dems and some GOPers....like Specter are going to ignore that aspect.

Last week, on Saturday night, the new show of Fox with Paul Gigot...had a panel that discussed this...and one thing I remember from that was that the FISA Court is backed up on warrants...

NOW....if someone intercepts a call that could be the ONE to begin the steps towards a dirty bomb being set off...are the judges in the FISA court gonna say they were backed up in the "post attack" commission...which would surely be demanded by the dems???

BTW...Bush NEEDS Jack Bauer.

Slight correction:

Bush NEEDS  IS Jack Bauer.

Actually, your version is accurate, but I couldn't resist the joke.

Bush is Marshal Will Kane.

When President Bush leaves Washington, I hope he has the opportunity to make the same kind of dramatic gesture that Gary Cooper did. I know he feels the same contempt for the weasels who live there.
