That's a good point.

I just finished reading Ari Fleischer's excellent book about his tenure as WH press secretary.

His book is replete with examples of the press calling him for information and letting him know about a story they were writing and he told them they were wrong about something, and they published the stories anyway!

Of course, in all the stories they got wrong, it made the president or someone in his administration look bad. Every single example. It's a fascinating look at the media. Even for those of us who know how bad it is, it will still stun you.
