Justice Alito will enhance all-too-powerful presidency (LOL-Lib Hysteria)

If you want to know why I opposed Samuel Alito's nomination to the Supreme Court, all you need to do is review the headlines from the past year.

Let's see the president thinks it is OK to spy on us (wiretapping, reading our mail, and now checking out what we are searching for on the Internet), and he thinks habeas corpus are just two more words he cannot pronounce correctly.

Unfortunately, Alito's memos and court decisions clearly indicate that he is willing to grant virtually unlimited power to the executive.

Those of you who love Bush and think that granting him unlimited power is great might want to pause for a moment and consider.

Unless Bush decides to completely throw our Constitution in the trash and declare himself Supreme Whatever (and I do not see that happening), then someone else will be in the White House in a couple of years, and someone else will follow, and so on.

Once you give power, it is very difficult to take it away. We needed a Supreme Court nominee who recognizes that very important fact, and Samuel Alito was not that man.

Well Bolshevik Bev, My hope is that we never see a Leftest Liberal President again in our future. I.E. My hope is for the death of the Democrat Party. Yes, we'll have one major party for a while, but at least it's the party that loves and cares about this country and not the one with animosity toward it.

No President advanced the cause of the almighty government more then FDR, the liberals icon.

One can hope, but the MSM's really grooming McCain for the race in '08.

"If you want to know why I opposed Samuel Alito's nomination...." Why, Beverly, do you suppose that I would want to know you opinion about anything? I've never heard of you before, and I think there is a good reason for that.

I still haven't gotten over the fact that the articles of impeachment said nothing about FBI Filegate. It was sort of understandable, in that the scandal came to light while Democrats still controlled Congress, and the Gingrich Congress got elected on other issues than impeaching the president. But still, it was an open-and-shut case of "Any a Republican president who allowed that to happen would have been impeached just because it happened on his watch."

Yet Clinton didn't even have to fire anyone (Yes, I know, Craig Livingstone "was fired" - but "nobody" fired him, since anyone who admitted having the authority to fire him would have admitted having had the authority to have not hired him in the first place. And that admission, from anyone in the administration, would have had to have been accompanied by a letter of resignation).

The Left really doesn't respect the true function of the Supreme Court. The Left's strategy is to raise the USSC to omnipotence when they have 5 or more opinions going their way, and to whine and complain of intrusive, overreaching power-mad zealots when things don't go their way.

The Left relishes their judical meddling via their perception that the USSC can "make laws," select presidents and run roughshod over majority voters' wishes. Their regrets are palpable and laughable in the quote at the top of this post.

We need strict constitutionalists, not meddlers hiding within black robes.
