I know Christ is mocked, but I would say that it's 'unacceptable' to do so. That doesn't mean I would 'support' violence against the makers of South Park.

What I'm saying..........and have said repeatedly..........is that you are drawing an incorrect conclusion from the 'evidence' based on your feelings and not the facts.

What's interesting is that I completely agree with you that President Bush is wrong when he calls Islam 'a religion of peace.' It clearly is not.

But I see it as diplomatic necessity as President (what could he say? That Islam is a false religion? I think it would be better if he said nothing at all, because he can't say what he really thinks in his position).

This administration has had NO tolerance for Islamofascism. It has fought it more aggressively than any previous administration.

Your criticism of him as being weak with regard to Islamic terrorists is just plain inaccurate.

Alawites are Muslims, are they not?

Alawites are not generally considered Moslems by anyone but other Alawites.

Same with the Druze. There are other similar sects throughout the Middle-East.

Nope. I think posting that cute little graphic is a good way to goad angry lightweights like yourself into showing who you really are. Amazing, how well it works. :)

I'm going to get serious, Flux. No more insults.

It's a silly game (and besides which, I will always win because I am significantly more clever than you. ;)

You mentioned earlier that you had touched a nerve with me. Yes, you did.

Because you told a bald faced and very, very ugly lie about me (unprovoked, and without the standard FR courtesy of pinging me), and I do not respond well to someone's lying with impunity about me on a public forum.

You said that I supported President Bush so blindly that I would support him even if he, himself were a terrorist. You implied that I would condone violence if he did it, and that I was soft on terror because he is soft on terror, and I blindly follow whatever he says or does.

All of that is complete bunk. I do not hide my admiration for him. There is no reason to. He is an admirable man, and a strong leader.

But there is more to it than that. He is my son's Commander in Chief. And my son spent 15 months of his very young life defending this country against terror in Iraq. Defending your freedom to lie about his mother. He risked his life and limb to fight evil, and when you implied that I would be on the side of evil if President Bush led me that way, I became angry.

Lies always make me angry.

All I have done on this thread (other than call you on your lie, and play this little insult game with you........and win it), is to stand up for accuracy and reason over emotion and over reaction.

I will do that on any thread at any time, and I don't care who calls me names because of it. Even you could call me a Bushbot or a kool-aid drinker and I would just laugh at you. But you lied. And you lied ugly, and I will not stand for it.

As for my being a Christian. I am. I am saved by the blood of Jesus Christ, and only through grace I have been made clean. But I still have a sinful nature, and your lies have brought out the worst in it. And because I have said things I should not have said, I ask your forgiveness, as I have asked the Lord forgiveness for my sin.

But I also ask you that you never, EVER lie about me again on this forum, because I will not let you get away with it unchallenged. But if you ever do, I will promise you that I will spend time in prayer before I respond, so that it is Christ in me responding, and not my defensive human nature.

Oh..........and my husband of nearly 30 years KNOWS I'm not only a woman, but a lady, and his is the only opinion that matters to me. The opinion of a lying, insulting stranger means absolutely nothing.

Good evening, Dan. No need to reply.....

I think the problem that other Muslims have with the Alawites is that they are alleged to have fought on the side of the Crusaders. Druze are more distintive in terms of their theology. Most Muslims consider them heretics.

Guess you did'nt see the remarks by the spokesman for the Dept. of State.

Finally had time to find (within a State Department presser), the complete statement of Sean McCormack regarding the cartoons, and, as the Washington Times reported (and NOT the leftist AP), it most definitely does NOT come down on the side of the militant Muslims.

HERE is the link, and this is the direct, complete quote on the subject.....

MR. MCCORMACK: I haven't seen any -- first of all, this is matter of fact. I haven't seen it. I have seen a lot of protests. I've seen a great deal of distress expressed by Muslims across the globe. The Muslims around the world have expressed the fact that they are outraged and that they take great offense at the images that were printed in the Danish newspaper, as well as in other newspapers around the world.

Our response is to say that while we certainly don't agree with, support, or in some cases, we condemn the views that are aired in public that are published in media organizations around the world, we, at the same time, defend the right of those individuals to express their views. For us, freedom of expression is at the core of our democracy and it is something that we have shed blood and treasure around the world to defend and we will continue to do so. That said, there are other aspects to democracy, our democracy -- democracies around the world -- and that is to promote understanding, to promote respect for minority rights, to try to appreciate the differences that may exist among us.

We believe, for example in our country, that people from different religious backgrounds, ethnic backgrounds, national backgrounds add to our strength as a country. And it is important to recognize and appreciate those differences. And it is also important to protect the rights of individuals and the media to express a point of view concerning various subjects. So while we share the offense that Muslims have taken at these images, we at the same time vigorously defend the right of individuals to express points of view. We may -- like I said, we may not agree with those points of view, we may condemn those points of view but we respect and emphasize the importance that those individuals have the right to express those points of view.

For example -- and on the particular cartoon that was published -- I know the Prime Minister of Denmark has talked about his, I know that the newspaper that originally printed it has apologized, so they have addressed this particular issue. So we would urge all parties to exercise the maximum degree of understanding, the maximum degree of tolerance when they talk about this issue. And we would urge dialogue, not violence. And that also those that might take offense at these images that have been published, when they see similar views or images that could be perceived as anti-Semitic or anti-Catholic, that they speak out with equal vigor against those images.

QUESTION: That the Muslims speak out with equal vigor when they see -- that's what you're asking?

MR. MCCORMACK: We would -- we believe that it is an important principle that peoples around the world encourage dialogue, not violence; dialogue, not misunderstanding and that when you see an image that is offensive to another particular group, to speak out against that. Anti-Muslim images are as unacceptable as anti-Semitic images, as anti-Christian images or any other religious belief. We have to remember and respect the deeply held beliefs of those who have different beliefs from us. But it is important that we also support the rights of individuals to express their freely held views.

Very clearly, and very emphatically, Sean McCormack defended the right of those who published the cartoons (a right bought with OUR BLOOD), while condemning the anti-Muslim attitude in those cartoons.

Any response that the Bush administration came down IN SUPPORT of the Muslims, is at best a half-truth. When viewed in light of the entire statement about the importance of freedom of the press, and freedom of expression, the accusation is completely inaccurate, and based, as I have said repeatedly, on emotions based on deliberately misleading MSM articles, and not the facts.

You folks saw and read excerpts deliberately intended to make you think the State Department was taking a position it did not, IN FACT, take.

Please don't let your mistrust of President Bush make you gullible and susceptible to MSM deceit. That's exactly what happened in this case with both of you.

A caller (Iranian) to the Michael Savage show on 03Feb06 said that the President of Iran had persuaded Al Jazeera to run stories about the cartoons recently.

That's really funny since the Iranian press organ just announced it's going to publish a series in retaliation -- on the Holocaust.

I don't care if you call it 'doublespeak.' What you originally said it was, was siding WITH the Islamic fanatics.

You said that President Bush was SIDING with the Islamic fanatics, and that is a complete untruth.

I'm clearly not the one with the 'problem' Jabber.

You completely fabricated the administration's position, stated it as fact on a public forum, and now that the truth of what was said is in front of you in black and white, and it ISN'T EVEN CLOSE to what you said, you won't admit it.

I'd call that a serious problem, bonk. Serious, serious problem.

But thanks for coming back anyway.......at least somewhere inside your head, you know that you weren't telling the truth. Whether you admit it here, or not.

(btw, don't you know anything about the role of the State Department? Doublespeak is their middle name.........and that has absolutely NOTHING to do with President Bush).

Thanks, Ohio. I did get to see the full statement finally last week and slammed all the threads I could find pertaining to the jihadist cartoon matter so that other freeper who, like me, were initially disappointed in what we thought was the full State Department response.

Since it's the State Department and filled with Clinton careerists and appeasers, it didn't initially seem suspicious that they would make such a stupid statement, but we were very glad to read the full official position.

I knew of your well-founded concern about the State Department (which, as you said, is filled with leftist lifers and clintonistas), and I figured you found this out, but since I sort of pop in and out of FR, I thought I'd give you a ping just to be sure.

There are actually freepers who think that the MSM biased initial report was the position of President Bush himself! Hoo boy! Tough to deal with that level of ignorance around here.....

I ran into a few of those too and that's why I spammed the thread the other day. After just finishing Ari Fleischer's excellent book about his tenure as WH press secretary, I should have known that the media was spinning the State Department's official press release.

Ari detailed how the press would call him about a story they were writing and he would tell them their quotes were wrong, and they'd write the story anyway!

It's a book that can be used to point out the hypocrisy and lies of the leftists in the media and although we all know there's a big problem with the media, the book made me realize it's a MUCH bigger problem than I'd thought. And since I hate the media almost as much as the jihadists, that tells you what a good job Ari did pointing out the problems we have dealing with the press.

That sounds like a book I need to get a hold of and read. (I miss Ari!)

When you think about the fact that we are at war, and the media is lying and doing whatever it can to bring down this Commander in Chief, regardless of the effect it has on the war effort, or how much it encourages and aids the enemy, it's beyond frightening.

Sorry - I left the house for a while.

Ohio, you will enjoy Ari's book. It's been in our library for months and I haven't taken it out but am now very glad I did. After the first few chapters, the level of detail Ari lays out of how the press lied and manipulated will really astound you. Even though I know you are already aware of how awful the press can be.
